Supporting this high-tech firm with mobile app development
BioRICS is a KU Leuven spin-off that calculates mental energy consumption based on raw sensor information from wearable devices such as Fitbits. BioRICS is committed to helping people improve their health and performance. It translates objective, real-time measurements into valuable, personalized insights about energy-drainers and energy-refuelers. As part of their core product development activities, they approached us to assist them with mobile app development and end-user thinking more broadly.
Challenge
The core BioRICS product consists of many parts that need to work together smoothly at all times: data collection from the hardware devices, algorithmic interpretation of the data and a user interface to map the insights to the user base. Our challenge was to improve the mobile user experience.
Solution
We brought the existing mobile app codebase up to modern technical standards and we conceptualised new customer journeys in a mobile-first mindset. We implemented the new product designs while optimising the deployment pipelines to allow for more frequent releases.
Approach
We started with an audit of the existing software stack. We set up a joint operating model together with the BioRICS engineering team in which we involved a product designer, front-end engineer and full-stack engineer from our end, working closely together with key people from BioRICS.
BioRICS is on an ambitious trajectory to bring their technology into the hands of users in the most user-friendly way possible. We are gladly shifting gears alongside their engineering team to keep speeding up the product development process.
